PsychoScales is a psychological scale website established in early 2024, dedicated to building a good crowd-research relationship. Our ideal is to promote the openness of knowledge in the field of psychology and crowd research.
The PsychoScales project originated in early 2024. We built a scale-based AI interpretation website PsychoScales, which can be considered the first generation of the project and also one of our attempts. However, the project has many problems, such as a complex framework and incomplete interpretation. Therefore, we actively accumulated technology and knowledge, and gradually improved the design of PsychoScales.
The New PsychoScales
This year (2025), we rebuilt two projects, namely PsychoScales and PsychoScalesOrg. The former provides a measurement method that mixes multiple scales and provides an overall AI interpretation; while the latter is a scale display and result calculation platform based on individual scales. Fortunately, at the end of last year we bought the website addresses we wanted: psychoscales.com and psychoscales.org, so we used them for these two sub-projects.
Users' personal information will not be saved; only users' email addresses will be used to distinguish users. We save data for scientific research, and email addresses will not be included when exporting data. Users can request us to export data (including test records, results, and conversation history) or delete their account at any time.
Random Scale System
In the new PsychoScales, all scale questions (items) will be presented to users randomly. The specific mechanism is as follows:
- Users can choose scales with certain tags; currently they are tagged by language
- If the user has unfinished questions, one will be randomly selected from the unfinished questions
- If the user has completed all questions, the completed questions will be presented in chronological order from oldest to newest
- Users can choose to answer or skip questions, but skipped questions will still remain among the undone questions
Traditional scales may easily reveal the purpose of measurement, and we hope that such a random mechanism can provide a more accurate measurement result. This calculation method also provides results on a broader time scale, but we still need to further consider the timeliness of the results.
Some scales may not be fully completed, but partial results can broadly show the user's psychological profile. More importantly, we have obtained broader (multi-scale) results.
All scale questions, options, and scoring mechanisms will be retained for data comparison. However, for users, we will calculate the average score for each scale and subscale for result statistics.
AI Comprehensive Interpretation
Users will converse with AI to comprehensively interpret all scale results (average scores). As with the old PsychoScales, our AI will include continuously updated subscriptions to psychology papers and journals to provide the most professional interpretation.
In the next version, we will reorganize the knowledge base built with FastGPT, and then try the GraphRAG approach.
Points
Users will accumulate one point for each question answered, and each conversation will consume five points. We hope to encourage users to continuously provide the latest data. These data not only help AI better understand users' current situation and provide more accurate interpretations, but will also encourage us to continue optimizing PsychoScales and provide free AI interpretations.
